A Welsh oak seven stick back chair

This is my Welsh seven stick back chair made in oak. The client came to the studio and sat in a range of chairs to establish the correct height and back positions to ensure a perfect fit. Here you can see the riser jig on the left image that sets the arm bow in the correct position before drilling the spindles. Once the drilling has been completed, the spindles can be fitted as seen on the right photo. Next I’ll be carving the seat and making a start on the bottom stretchers that will provide a lot of strength to the underside of the chair.
