Finishing a custom chair

Here is the latest commission ready to have the finish applied. This lovely wide solid oak low back chair has been made in collaboration with the client to ensure it fulfils her every request. In our discussions early on, she visited the studio and sat in a range of chairs. I was able to combine various chair elements of different designs that she liked to ensure that it would be suitable to actively knit in. I widened the arm bow, seat and adjusted the proportions of the spindles so they flow around, almost in a rhythmic way. Also the round broad arms provide a stable platform on which to balance yarn and encapsulate the body. A very successful outcome of a project!
