Another client reached out fairly recently requesting ten side chairs that stack. They liked the Welsh side chair that I have designed and made many times in the past, however to ensure the number of chairs that were required to stack safely together took careful planning. The stretchers that give the chair it’s strength underneath were used to locate the chairs front to back, and the medial stretcher between the side stretchers prevent the chair from tipping when stacked.
I was initially unsure how many could realistically be stood on top of one another, but was pleased to find that five could be stacked quite well. This should look neat as two rows of five. I’m nearly halfway through building these chairs to date and the client has requested ‘Zinc’ milk paint and oil for the finish. Hopefully there will be enough time for me to photograph these chairs before they get sent off to the customer in a few weeks time!
